Frequently Asked Questions
How are membership fees calculated?
Membership fees are based on the membership tier selected by the school and the services and supports included within that tier. KCES offers Bronze, Silver, and Gold membership options so schools can choose the level of support that best fits their needs and goals.
Can a schooL change tiers later?
Yes. As a school's needs change, it may request to move to a different membership tier. KCES will work with the school to determine the appropriate timing for the change and any resulting adjustment to membership fees or services.
Does KCES controll member schools?
No. KCES exists to support, equip, and strengthen member schools, not to take over their day-to-day operation. Member schools continue to make their own operational and governance decisions within the requirements of their membership agreement and applicable legislation.
Does our school keep it’s own identity and governance?
Yes. Member schools maintain their own identity, leadership, board governance, culture, and local community relationships. Membership in KCES is intended to strengthen the school while respecting the qualities that make each school community unique.
Who makes the final membership decision?
Applications are reviewed by KCES to ensure that there is a good fit between the school and the Society's mission, values, expectations, and membership requirements.
Are there minimum school size requirements?
KCES recognizes that Christian schools come in many sizes and stages of development. There is no set minimum school size for membership. Applications are considered based on the school's overall readiness, alignment, and ability to meet membership requirements rather than enrolment alone.
What information is required to apply?
Schools interested in membership will be asked to provide information about their school, governance and leadership, educational program, enrolment, Christian mission and beliefs, current operations, and the type of support they are seeking from KCES. Additional documents may be requested as part of the review process.
How long does the membership process take?
The timeline can vary depending on the school's circumstances, the membership tier being considered, and whether additional information or conversations are required. KCES will guide the school through the process and keep applicants informed throughout the review.
Can a new or developing school join?
Yes. KCES welcomes conversations with both established Christian schools and groups that are developing or exploring the creation of a new Christian school. The appropriate membership option and next steps will depend on the school's stage of development, needs, and readiness.
