Does the group student accident insurance paid for by KCES cover ambulance?

Yes, for both sickness & accidents that occur during school activities.  The group coverage number is 012022243. Parents need to make the claim by calling the IAP (Industrial Alliance Pacific) number  1-800-556-7411 and ask for a claim form.   Parents do not need to pay for the ambulance coverage first, but simply submit the invoice to IAP along with the claim form.  Also, you do not need the “attending Physicians statement” if you are making an ambulance expense claim only.

If a class is planning a trip to Mexico for example, are they covered by the school's policy or do they need to purchase extra coverage?

Koinonia's current General Liability is on a world-wide basis, so coverage will follow the school group. The one requirement is that they provide us (Mone's & Associates) with details of the trip PRIOR to going.  The Trip Details should include: destination; means of travel (vans, buses, air, etc.); number and grade(s) of students participating; duration of trip (exact dates necessary); ratio of students to adults; a break-down of adults (being number of school staff versus parents or others).  We strongly encourage the purchasing of additional Out of Country Travel Accident & Sickness coverage for each student and adults. The cost of unforeseen out of country medical can be extremely expensive. We recently paid out on a policy for someone who had a heart attack while down in the USA. Upon arrival at the US Hospital, it was determined an emergency triple-heart bypass was required. The cost of this surgery and 10 days in hospital recovering was in excess of $550,000 (USD). Our office (Mone's & Associates PH 780-435-4862) is able to arrange this type of insurance for the trip, but require all of the above noted details prior to being able to determine a premium estimate.

Are we required to report details for small trips or just out of country trips?

Mone's & Associates only need details for the out of country outings.
