Cherry Coulee Christian Academy has been providing a quality Christian based education to the youth of Bow Island since 1989. Our mission statement states: “CCCA exists to assist parents in the Christian education of their children towards academic and spiritual excellence.” This has been the cornerstone of our school and we truly believe that we are “educating our students for eternity.”
Being a Christian school means that we offer a program that shares our faith in all subject areas. We accomplish this through:
- Using Christian based materials in many subject areas ie. Reading & Spelling
- Teaching other subjects in the Alerta curriculum from a Christian perspective ie. Science
- Teaching Bible as a distinct subject and promote Christian service activities for our students.
- Hiring teachers that share our passion for a Christian education.
As with all students in the province, CCCA adheres to the requirements of Alberta Education. Our classes from ECS to grade 9 offer Bible, Mathematics, Science, Language Arts, Psychical Education, Social Studies, Home Economics and Outdoor Education. German is taught as a second language from grades 4-9. Our students have scored well in required Provincial Achievement Tests (PAT’s) and we monitor student achievement in math and reading by administering Canadian Achievement Tests (CAT’s) to our students.
CCCA also offers a Home School Program for those families wishing to educate their children at home. Student enrollment has quadrupled since our experienced husband and wife team took over the program in 2002.
CCCA has performed well in the area of athletics especially in basketball. We have won several tournaments and even the County Championships defeating much larger schools in the area. Many games have been won in our new gym, the largest in our County. As a testament to godly parents and a positive Christian School environment, many people have noticed and commented on the politeness and fair playing of our students wherever they have competed.
There have been many changes in the 22 year history of Cherry Coulee Christian Academy. One thing that has never changed however is our commitment to providing the best Christian education possible to our students and that their faith is of utmost importance to us. It’s what sets us apart from other forms of education. It is what we will continue to do as the Lord leads us into the future.
