- The current Extended Health/Dental Care, Life insurance, & Short Term
Disability plan is administered by D & A Financial Services in Red Deer
through Great West Life.
- You have 31 days from the date you become a Koinonia employee to apply
for this insurance. Medical evidence of insurability may be required if you,
- or your dependents, apply after this period has passed.
- Participation is mandatory if you are eligible and coverage is effective on
date of hire with Koinonia.
- The following are included in our
health benefits package:
a) Basic Life Insurance - $25,000
b) Dependent Life Insurance – Spouse $5,000 &
each child $2500
c) Employee Accidental Death & Dismemberment – an
amount equal
to your life insurance.
d) Short Term Disability – 66 2/3% of your gross
weekly earnings to a
maximum benefit of $1000/wk up to 17 weeks (premiums are paid
totally by staff
member)

- Our Long Term Disability coverage is through RBC Insurance
- The
elimination period is 120 days and the benefit is 66 2/3%
of monthly
earnings.
- This
benefit is based on percentage of income loss
- The LTD premiums are paid totally by staff member
- They are individual portable policies
RRSP:
- The current RRSP plan is administered by Toronto Dominion
unless
arranged otherwise by your school.
- Your School Board will match employee contributions
according to the
minimum following schedule:
a) After 1 year of full-time employment, 1% of the
employee’s salary.
b) After 2 years of full-time employment, 2% of the
employee’s salary.
c) After 3 years of full-time employment, 3% of the
employee’s salary.

your School Board pays half of the total premium and the employee
pays half (deducted off monthly pay cheque). This ensures that if a claim is
made by an employee for short term or long term disability, it will not be
considered a taxable benefit.

Dependent Life: $1.97/month
